Be the Tough Boss, but NOT the Jerk

Being the boss and being popular is rarely an option. Your employees have their own issues at times and consider your interference, or demands to be against their own desires most of the time. Having to go boss around a guy in packaging for shipping when you sit in a corner office all day doesn't usually make them happy to see you. Obviously you run into a large range of employees from the butt kisser to the "I'm smarter than you" types. Doesn't mean you have to be a complete jerk to everyone to get them to listen, or even gain respect. So how do you get things done without being a jerk of a boss? Here are some tips to make your employees feel like you aren't a slave driver and that you recognize what they do.
